May 5, 2008.
So, I went out last night to celebrate an apartment-mate’s 19th birthday. We went to a little restaurant called “Las Bravas” (the braves) and ate some chicken wings and some other meat that I hope was steak. While we were sitting, a crowd of Real Madrid fans came pouring towards us- Madrid’s team won the Spanish league!

After we hit up a Havana bar for a mojito, we got our cameras and returned to the streets to capture the action. I am guessing that at least 5,000 people were out celebrating. It was such a large group of people that even the police showed up to check peoples’ bags. I know that Barcelona and Madrid have this heated rivalry, but I’m not sure how dangerously passionate the fans can get.

While walking back, this futbol fanatic tried to play a move on my apartment mate- either because he was drunk or because he wanted to take his wallet out of my mate’s back pocket. In any case, nothing was stolen.
This morning I started my first day at the Eureka school. I took placement exams that lasted over an hour to complete. They gave me a harder exam for each exam I turned in. Thus, while the room filtered out, I was left as the only student filling out exams. I think they placed me in an appropriate class. After class, me and a few other students (3 americanos, 1 aleman, 1 frances, 1 ingles) went to a restaurante to jibber jabber.
Now I’m contemplating whether I should take a siesta or go for a “footing” around the park as the French student said….
