I have arrived in Madrid, finally. Angel, a program affiliate, held a sign with my name on it to pick me up after I got my luggage. He was with another man (a French man) resembling Gandalf the grey. Both were pleasant and friendly while taking me to the apartment. No one in the apartment is here yet.
My room provides me with a nice view of Madrid's first street, Arenal.
I thought the city would be older looking. It looks the same as any big city, with large billboards and fashionable, busy people. Who would want to live here permanently? Madrid has some splainin' to do if it wants me to leave loving it.
It’s hard for me to understand Spanish.
Maybe I really am bad with languages, probably just tired. I told Angel that Madrid (of course) has the same set up in Mexico -El Centro full of bustling people and a large cathedral to watch over it all. He just
nodded. I suppose you can’t try to explain something to someone who already knows it?

Good news, I met 2 of the people here and they don't seem too bad!
