the hot house.
last night lindsay and i dropped $25 for the annual hot house party. it proceeds the sprout fund, which is a cool way for pgh muralists and artists to get the cash for their projects around the city. anyhow, we showed up when it started and got free soy ice cream and ventured around checking out the "this is weird, it's like i'm in disney world" - esque scene. the lines became packed quickly and soon we realized that we had been waiting for drinks for a half hour. it was a neat crowd. drag queens, ritzy art goers, the young and old - all strutted out for this event. the top floor had a stage for poets and another floor displayed installation pieces and a silent auction of local art. there was also a large ballroom which made me feel like i was at a club in some european country, except that they were giving out bizarre flavors of popcorn and providing parasols for people to dance with (which i so merrily did). the night's act heralded "zombi" on the main stage. this synth, dark-rock duo drew in a large crowd, including me, lindsay, and a handful of carefree dancers. following the band, this dj went on to ease the crowds out and into their cars. lindsay and i took our smooth moves and danced our way out among the bodies.
today i'm going to see what kundalini yoga has to offer and then i'm getting sushi and buying books. i think i told about 5 people last night when asked what i was doing that i was going to start graduate school this fall...then i realized that "this fall" is monday, so then i said "monday."
