go places

I was so excited to get back on a plane last week. After the Madrid crash in August a few days after I got back to the U.S., I was in a funk where I thought I would never ride on a plane again.
It is truly a spectacular experience to travel. Just entering the airport, I felt adrenaline rush through me. Seeing individuals and families preparing to fly to different cities all over the world, being a part of the liveliness, witnessing sad goodbyes and merry welcomes- the movement thrills me.
It’s also nice to be reminded that I am living on a planet. I feel like it is necessary for every human being to ride in a plane -to feel what it’s like to be high in the air, with the clouds level to your window, earth low to the ground and see cities growing smaller and the sun grow larger (almost like a real-life Planet Earth episode). It’s refreshing to be removed from swallowing hills of the Appalachian Mountains and to be lifted above commercial zones and houses so that all you see are patterns of green, yellow, or blue below you.

I had to stay the night in this airport because I missed my flight, so for that one night that airport became my home and I was like Tom Hanks in "Terminal".
