bottoms up!

June 4, 2008

I spent most of my day at the French consulate today. I waited a long time for them to simply tell me that it is “estupido” for me to apply for a visa when I’m an American staying there for less than two  months. At least while talking to them I got to practice my Spanish. I think I’m catching on to the Castellano sounds here. My tone of Spanish changes with whomever I am speaking with.

After going to the consulate, I came back to the apartment to take a siesta – which lasted longer than I hoped. (Four hour naps are not considered naps...) I woke up and made some rice with tomatoes and broccoli and one of the American girls (who is of Indian descent) added some spice to my dinner.

During my dinner the other students living in a different apartment came up to ask us to go with them to a piano bar. It’s located in quite a mysterious place- below a restaurant, hidden in a seemingly old wine cellar. There are witty saying on the walls and art of all sorts. The sangria was delicious – but the waiters kindly asked my dance partner and me to leave the dance floor when we ended our first dance in between the tables.

Again, it is very late and I am ready for bed! The weather has improved!!!!! although my allergies have not. Tomorrow I hope to “tomar el sol”/sunbathe in the park after my internship! Ciao ciao!
