I finally made it to the teleferico today. It is a lift that takes you above Madrid’s Casa de Campo Park (it used to be the hunting grounds for the Spanish Monarchy) and towards the city. It took awhile for me and Joe to find the teleferico stations – we had to do some exploring and hiking – but we followed our animal instincts and we found our way. It’s been painful to be stuck in this city. Lots of smoking, noise, gross things on the street, tourists, rain, y mas.
It was a breather (literally!) to get out of the city and into the pretty forest. We spotted some bunnies, green birds, fat ducks, and heard some owls. Joe is pretty clueless about the outdoors (coming from New York City) – I guess having a childhood playing in a creek and riding bikes on gravel roads has made me appreciate the non-city life. (Love you, trees!)
I wish it were the 1880’s so I could throw rotten tomatoes at these horrible violinists outside my window. That was appropriate then, right? (Fievel Goes West)
